In the first game of the 2011-2012 collegiate season Worcester State served up a blistering attack
to beat Suffolk University 7 – 4.
Worcester State began a building program 2 seasons ago by going west to recruit players playing in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). The roster of Worcester State is occupied by no less than 17 former WSHL players. In the inaugural game of the 2011-2012 season, playing in the Pepperidge Farm Tournament, no less than nine former WSHL players dressed for 20 man game roster. Seven of those WSHL players were freshmen.

The Worcester State attack was led by Smbat Defterderian (1 goal, 2 assists), Brenton Dyok (2 assists), Martin (1 assist) and Stanley (1 goal). Worcester goes into the second game on Saturday versus Johnson & Wales University who have Brad Atkinson, formerly of the Idaho Jr. Steelheads, in net.
