The WSHL incorporated in Southern California in June 1994 and made application to USA Hockey as a Junior B League. Granting of "Interim status" was received and the inaugural season schedule of 30 games began in October 1994.

 

The original 6 teams consisted of.

                      1994-1995 Inaugural Season (consisted of a 30 game season)

                             Anaheim Junior Ducks (Arrowhead, California) League Champion

                             Arizona Bandits (Phoenix, Arizona)

                             Las Vegas Junior Aces (Las Vegas, Nevada)

                             San Jose Junior Sharks (San Jose, California)

                             Utah Lightning (Salt Lake City, Utah)

                             Ventura Mariners (Simi Valley, California)

 

1995-1996 Season consisted of a 32 game schedule with the following 5 teams participating:

     Anaheim Junior Ducks (Anaheim, California) League Champion

     Las Vegas Jr Thunder (Las Vegas, Nevada)

     Formerly Las Vegas Jr    Aces

     San Jose Jr Sharks (San Jose, California)

     Utah Lightning (Salt Lake City, Utah)

     Ventura Mariners (Simi Valley, California)

 

1996-1997 Season consisted of a 34 game schedule with the following 7 teams participating;

     Alaska Arctic lce (Anchorage. Alaska)

     Flagstaff Mountaineers (Flagstaff, Arizona) League Champion.

     Las Vegas Jr Thunder (Inactive)

     New Mexico Ice Breakers (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

     Southern California Junior Bombers (Lakewood, California)

     Utah Junior Grizzlies (Salt Lake City, Utah) Formerly Utah Lightning

     Ventura Mariners (Simi Valley, California)

 

1997-1998 Season consisted of two divisions with the following 12 teams participating:

  

     Northern Division (30 game schedule)

       Alaska Arctic Ice (Anchorage, Alaska)

       Fairbanks Ice Dogs (Fairbanks, Alaska) Division Champion

       Peninsula Hellfighters (Kenai Peninsula, Alaska)

       Sinbad Sailors (Anchorage, Alaska)

 

    Southern Division ( 36 game schedule)

       Colorado Cougars (Denver, CO)

       Flagstaff Mountaineers (Flagstaff, AZ) Division & League Champions

 1st  All Conference Tournament held in Peoria, AZ.

 2nd Annual Pre-Season all League Tryouts and draft held in each Conference

 5th Annual Pre Season Tournament, held in two locations, Lakewood California

 and San Antonio Texas.
